Your Home is Safe!

Your Home is Safe!

A message from the Chair and Chief Executive of Bridgewater Housing Association to our Tenants.

This is a worrying time for everyone in the country,  staff and customers alike are either directly or indirectly affected by the Corona Virus, but we wanted to make sure that our tenants know that your home is safe so that you have one less thing to worry about over the next few months.

Our staff are continuing to work, mainly from home and we continue to deliver what services we can, refocussing our efforts on supporting our tenants and other service users. We are also working in partnership to support local community organisations in their efforts to help the wider Erskine community.

Bridgewater HA is a registered charity and we expect tenants to continue to pay your rent. However, we have been engaging with some tenants who have fallen in to arrears as a result of the pandemic.  We have been providing them with reassurance that we are here to support and provide the advice that they need.

Because of what is going on, some tenants  are going to find themselves in a situation of not being able to pay their rent for the first time, we will engage with them to find out what support and advice they need, including help to find their way through the Benefits system and signposting to local support organisations.

We are aware some tenants in rent arrears will be concerned  about the possibility of being evicted.  We want to make it clear that while our staff will continue to engage with tenants, the Board has instructed staff that:

NO ONE WILL BE EVICTED BECAUSE OF RENT ARREARS AS A DIRECT OR INDIRECT RESULT OF THE CURRENT CORONA VIRUS SITUATION

Our staff will continue to focus on providing help, assistance, support and advice to our tenants who need it for the foreseeable future.
