The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (the Act) requires Scottish public authorities and Housing Associations (from 11 November 2019) to adopt and maintain a Guide to Information which complies with the Scottish Information Commissioner’s Model Publication Scheme, and publish information in accordance with that scheme.
In addition to this duty to publish, organisations must respond to the requests for information they receive, and help people who want to access information.
Alongside the Act, the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (the EIRs) provide a separate right of access to the environmental information that we hold.
