Playpark Opening Celebration

Playpark Opening Celebration – Thursday 5th June

We had a fantastic day celebrating the official opening of our brand-new playpark on Thursday 5th June!

A huge thank you to Depute Head Teacher Danielle Meiklejohn and the Children’s Rights Representatives from each class, who officially opened the park in a lovely ceremony. Before cutting the ribbon, the children sang "We All Have Rights"—highlighting their right to play—followed by a heartwarming rendition of "Here Comes the Sun," sung by the whole school from the playground.

We were thrilled to welcome tenants from Barholm, as the park was created alongside the development of their homes. There were raffles for both children and adults, with three lucky children winning £10 Smyths Toy Store vouchers, and one adult taking home a £10 Morrisons voucher—kindly donated by Morrisons.

Special thanks to our brilliant guests:

  • Community Police
  • Heather from the Community Garden
  • Elspeth from Morrisons

Every child attending received a toy and a snack, and the Children’s Rights Reps took part in a creative art session with Amanda McCall.

The celebration doesn’t stop there! Children have been invited to:

  • Complete a park survey to enter a draw for a £20 voucher
  • Design a logo and name for the park—winner receives a £40 voucher!

Thank you to everyone who made this a memorable and joyful day. Here's to many happy times in our new playpark!
